The University

Sharif University of Technology is one of the leading academic institutions in applied science and engineering education and research in Iran. Since its establishment in 1965, the University has strived to adhere to the highest standards of academic excellence and has contributed significantly to the national scientific and industrial development.

The Department

The Electrical Engineering Department was established in 1967 and is currently offering advanced degrees in major areas of electrical engineering including:

Electronics Communications Power Systems Control Biomedical Eng. The university has a strong tradition of attracting top ranking Iranian students. More than one hundred fifty thousand high school graduates participated in the National College Entrance Examination in 1999. Out of the top 500 students who passed this examination, some 300 were admitted to this university. All of the 120 students admitted to the undergraduate electrical engineering program this year were among these finalists. The educational environment in the department is, therefore, very demanding and highly competitive. More than seven thousand students are currently enrolled at the university. The Electrical Engineering department currently has about 1000 students, among whom 250 are enrolled in graduate and doctoral programs.
