About This Course


This course is intended to introduce the analysis and design methodologies in electrical circuits. While non-linear circuit analysis is in sight, the focus of the course is on linear time invariant circuits. The analysis of the electrical circuits based on circuit theory theorems in both time and frequency domain are going to be considered.

  1. Linear time invariant circuits and their properties:

    * Basic laws of DE base analysis of LTI circuits,

    * First and Second order circuits,

    * Complete response: Zero state and Zero input response

    * Steady state response vs. Transient response

    * Nth order circuits and creation of DEs and initial conditions

  2. Sinusoidal steady state analysis

    * 3 phase systems

    * Max power transfer

  3. Magnetically coupled circuits and transformers

  4. Graph theory and Tellegen theorem

  5. Node and mesh analysis

  6. Loop and cut-set analysis (quick)

  7. State-space analysis

  8. Laplace transform and analysis in s-domain

  9. Frequency response and transfer functions

  10. Natural frequencies

  11. Theorems in Network Theory

  12. Two port networks
