Arash Ali Amini, 79107905 Abstract The goal of this project is to design a functional board based on the Intel486 SX processor. This board which is called "minBoard" contains the minimum necessary hardware and software. The combined collection of hardware and software provide the ability to communicate with the user through an input device (i.e. PC keyboard) and an output device (i.e. LCD or PC monitor). High processing power, multiprogramming and time-sharing capabilities (when operated in protected mode), and low (or ultra-low) power consumption, makes the Intel486 an appropriate choice for realizing a real-time embedded controller. Accordingly, the board designed in this project can become the proper basis for designing the industrial and military controllers.
